Ape Alliance
The Alliance is an international coalition of organizations and individuals, working for the conservation and welfare of apes, including chimpanzees. The website links to recent news items on chimpanzees, and also lists a wealth of other important conservation organizations. Contributions can be made through the Born Free website. Born Free organizations in both the UK and US support sanctuaries and advocacy on behalf of chimpanzees. For more information, go to: www.BornFreeUSA.org or www.BornFreeUK.org.
World Wildlife Federation
The Federation supports conservation of many species and regions, but one of its foci is on protecting the animals and forests of the Congo Basin (check it out).
Wildlife Conservation Society
The Society's mission is to save wildlife and wild places across the globe. In addition to managing New York City's zoos and aquarium, it also manages about 500 conservation projects in more than 60 countries. The group has been active in projects to protect great apes in the Congo Basin. Information on its recent activities for chimp conservation can be found here.
